Seafood Special

The key requirement for a great seafood dish is freshness. The fresher the ingredients, the better your meal is going to be.  So where is the perfect place to get the best seafood?  Right on the ocean of course!  Below is a list of great seafood restaurants on the East Coast.

Bahr’s Landing

Since 1917 Bahr’s Landing has been serving fresh seafood to NJ residents and visitors.  With award-winning crab cakes and a strong local affiliation, this family-owned establishment is a Jersey Shore icon.  The restaurant also made an appearance in a 2004 romantic comedy directed by New Jersey’s own Kevin Smith.

The Seafood Shanty

In Massachusetts lobsters are practically a way of life, and in Martha’s Vineyard the Seafood Shanty provides an inspired way to eat them.  Their lobster quesadilla, featured by Rachel Ray on the Food Network, is a local favorite combining fresh lobster and gooey cheese.  The Seafood Shanty also offers a fresh raw bar which makes great use of their super fresh fish.

Navesink Fishery

If you’re looking for fins without the frills, try the Navesink Fishery.  While this hidden gem may seem unassuming initially, the great food speaks for itself.  This BYO seafood spot is located in Atlantic Highlands, and is said to have some of the freshest seafood around.  That’s probably because this restaurant doubles as a fish market!
