There’s fun waiting for you on Long Island this summer! There’s traffic waiting for you, too, but we’ve got a way to avoid that annoyance entirely. Through September 7, you can climb aboard your favorite ferry and take a quick trip to Port Jefferson! From there, the entire East End is your playground, thanks to Hampton Jitney. Snag a reservation now so you won’t miss out on the Port Jefferson Boater’s Maritime Festival, happening from June 6 through June 7!

Whatever Floats Your Boat

Port Jefferson has a rich maritime history, and the Boater’s Maritime Festival is an ideal time to learn more about the art of not sinking in the sea. There’ll be more than 50 boats on display, as well as sailing demonstrations and even a regatta. The kids will have a great time, too, with the live music, treasure hunts, and pirate shows!

See open demonstrations of inflatable boats, kayaks, and paddleboards, too. Take part in a clam eating contest, and afterwards, walk some of that food off with a tour of the Stony Brook Sea Wolf research vessel.

Row, Row, Row for Charity

This year, the Boater’s Maritime Festival adds the Paddle Battle Long Island! Adventurous kayakers and paddle boarders of all skill levels can get in on the action. The recreational course is 2.5 miles and meant for novices and all less-experienced paddlers. There’s kayaks (and canoes, for mixed doubles) available for rent, so you don’t have to worry about how to participate.

The race benefits charities such as the United Way’s VetsBuild program, the East End Tourism Alliance, and the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation.
