A New Zealander in New York

This cozy and creative restaurant came from the mind and background of owner Pauli Morgan. He named this gastropub in honor of his hometown in New Zealand, and his love of his native country shows through in the restaurant’s Maori-inspired decor. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach, with columns carved to resemble traditional Maori war canoes and a curved wooden bar.

The menu features both small plates, which are perfect for a snack or for diners who’d like to try many foods; and large plates which dish up much heftier servings. Try a plate of the corn and zucchini fritters for a mouth-watering starter, or for the carnivores, beef sliders with caramelized onion. Sandwich lovers won’t want to miss the fried egg club sandwich, piled high with bacon, lettuce, egg, and curried mayonnaise! The D.U.B. pies bring a New Zealand tradition to the South Seaport.
