It’s a big weekend in New York! The holiday spirit is running us all over, leaving reindeer hoofprints and sleigh marks on our backs in their wake. This weekend, enjoy a slightly different spin on Christmas music at one of these holiday concerts! Hear your old favorites in a whole new way at the Unsilent Night caroling event, or take in a jazzed-up version of the Nutcracker Suite at the Apollo Theater.

Saturday, December 13 – Unsilent Night

Unsilent Night 1

Christmas caroling has been a tradition for hundreds of years. Roving groups of people used to wander the streets, singing Christmas song as they went. They’d go door to door to perform for the people in the homes, and sometimes, they’d get tasty treats out of the deal. This year, caroling goes high tech with Unsilent Night. Phil Kline, a composer with a unique vision, leads a chorus of boomboxes from the West Village to the East Village. The event meets up in Washington Square Park at 7 PM, and ends in Tompkins Square Park.

Saturday, December 13 and Sunday, December 14 – Ellington at Christmas

Unsilent Night 2

Duke Ellington had flair, panache, and a true gift for jazz. His music has a smooth, vibrant feel that makes listening to it a true joy. You can hear his distinctive arrangement of the Nutcracker Suite this weekend at the Ellington at Christmas: Nutcracker Suite event at the Apollo Theater (253 West 125th Street)! It features a 16-piece orchestra, as well as tap dancing and a full gospel choir, and it’s happening on both Saturday and Sunday at 3 PM, and Saturday at 8 PM.

However you’re making merry this weekend, Seastreak is proud to get you there! Our comfortable catamarans are better than a sleigh. Sit inside with a drink from our cash bar to keep warm, and travel in style as you head to Manhattan or Atlantic Highlands.

Sea you soon!
