New York has so much awesome, the buildings can’t even contain it. All that incredible New York-ness has to spill out onto the streets, and that’s why you’ll find more than 10,000 street vendors in the Big Apple. Street food’s a pretty big deal here. So if you’re looking to taste the best of the best New York has to offer, grab tickets to the 2014 Vendy Awards on Saturday, September 13! They’re taking place on Governor’s Island.

Vendy Awards 1

Dancing (or Eating) In the Streets

The Vendy Awards are kind of the Oscars of street food. They’re the first street food competition series in the United States, going strong now for ten years. This showdown of mobile chefs raises funds for the Street Vendor Project, which is a non-profit organization to promote vendors’ rights. That’s all the boring information.

Here’s what you care about: Attendees get to sample the best dishes from 25 top-notch food vendors, then get to wash it all down with all-you-can drink beer from Brooklyn Beer, wines from Santa Cristina wines, or non-alcoholic drinks from various vendors.

Vendy Awards 2

Trucking Along

Whose trucks will be there? How about the Cinnamon Snail sandwich and donut truck? Or the Desi Food Truck with its excellent Indian foods? You’ll really want to try out the Nuchas empanadas, with beef, peppers, potatoes, and olives. There’s plenty more food than those to sample. Once you’ve tried them all, cast your vote for the best and see if they’re crowned champions at the end.

General admission tickets have sold out, but there’s still VIP tickets to be had. These offer benefits that make the extra price worth the while, like getting early admission, access to the VIP cocktails, and some mighty fine swag!

Seastreak’s full-service bar isn’t up for a Vendy Award, but you’ll still find drinks and snacks to tide you over until you find your favorite food truck. We’re part of New York’s overabundance of awesome, with great service and a comfortable ride!

Sea you soon!
