They’re back on stage! Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, unlikely odd couple of the Broadway stage, have returned to performing together at last. Fans of their first tour, and those theater lovers looking to be won over, will want to snatch up tickets for this stage revival of Terrence McNally’s homage to Broadway, “It’s Only a Play”! It’s playing now at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater, at 236 West 45th Street!

It's Only a Play 1

The Play’s the Thing

Lane and Broderick wowed audiences with their turn as producers desperate to turn out a critical flop in the Mel Brooks romp “The Producers”. Now, for the first time since that Tony award winning run, they’ve returned. Only this time, their characters are looking for good reviews to save careers. (Kind of an ironic turn, after their last show.)

It's Only a Play 2

Matthew Broderick plays a playwright on the opening night of his new show. Critical reviews of the night’s performance will make or break his career. He nervously shares his important evening with his best friend, played by Nathan Lane. Will the good reviews come in, and on Broadway, is anything ever just “only a play”?

A Talented Cast of Characters

Also in this all-star cast is Stockard Channing, a veteran of both Broadway and the silver screen. (Remember Rizzo from the classic “Grease”?) Rupert Grint plays the wunderkind director of the play’s show-in-a-show, dressed up in wild suits you would never have expected to see on Harry Potter’s best friend. Joining them are the brilliant F. Murray Abraham, and incredibly versatile Megan Mullally.

It's Only a Play 3
